On a dog friendly beach, you should expect to see lots of dogs running around and playing. Council is reviewing whether existing dog beaches should remain following a minor incident involving a dog licking the face of a baby laying on the sand at Fake Beach yesterday. The owner was fined for failing to maintain effective control of her dog in an off-leash area. If rules apply to dog owners, other rules should apply to non-dog owners with children on an off-leash beach area.
Rationale For This composition, I use the Rule of Thirds so that the main focal point is at the bottom of the picture and chose to use Horizontal line to show more of the sky rather than the sand. I think the colour of the sky gives it more a feel of being at the beach on a sunny day and the contrast of the waves and the blue sky gives it a nice contrast and define the horizontal line better. It also gives it Space. To achieve this shot, I was laying down on my stomach taking pictures as dogs and their owners walked/ran on the beach (also got quite a few that came to lick my face). I wanted to show the vastness of the beach and the playfulness of the dogs and owners happily enjoying the outing. Capturing people and playful dogs was no easy task.
